Vote60by50 is an initiative to get 60% of the youth to participate in voting by the 50th anniversary of the Voting Right’s Act. The plan came in phases, initially to use the website to lend credibility for potential fund contributors and people seeking resources on how to get involved. After a number of partners were involved and a large mailing list was compiled from the site’s form, phase two was started. Grassroots campaigns at various colleges and public sectors built more momentum as the website was updated with new information and resources intended to be a springboard for the new focus.
Currently the campaign continues, primarily on college campuses. Shirts, hats, and other goods are being printed with the logo I developed (initially as a placeholder) and the website continues to be an important tool in keeping the momentum behind their efforts and in getting important partners across the country to join the cause.
